Poetry: Rose's Cheer Up Song

Put your arms up in the air,
Then put them down by your sides.
Put your hands on your head,
Then put 'em over your eyes!

I'm a little girl,
    And I'm not crying.
They asked me to be good,
    And I'm really trying.

When little Rose (my daughter) gets tired, she sometimes starts to throw a tantrum over a very small thing, and sometimes (whether she's getting what she wants or not) it's very hard to snap her out of it. (She's three.)

On this particular occassion, she was very tired, and very upset about not being able to do something before being put to bed, and I made up this little bit on the spot, asking her to repeat after me and thinking up the next line as she repeated the previous.

By the time she was done with the first verse, she wasn't crying anymore, so I considered it a success, and wrote it down. As a result, I've been asked to perform it with her at parties since, so let that be a lesson to me about writing things down.

The best part of it all, is that the girls keep asking Daddy to sing this with them! He is such a good Daddy.
